We were a group of 6 friends from Luxembourg that originally were very reluctant to go hiking in Roumania. But thanks to Julian, our guide, we finally had a wonderful time in the Carpathians Mountains. Julian went out of his way to please us with our different needs. Was the first snow from this year, but we were not scared about it. We were hiking in Bucegi mountains and Piatra Craiului national park, on snow, sun and beautiful weather. They came from Luxembourg, being hiking on other different places before this trip. And, as almost always, Mike, Dan and their friends were surprised by our mountains, and not by our food. Betty and Joël came for a long weekend hike and a short visit of Bucharest city. The right places for this type of tour are Bucegi natural park and the high hills of Bran county. We started our tour with a warm up hike on the Western part of Bucegi mountains, then crossed over to Moeciu de Sus, ending in the picturesque mountain village of Simon. It was the best time of the year to hike, with the right weather conditions and this was something which motivated us to keep on hiking and enjoying the beautiful nature!

Hiking with Avril and Nina, what a wonderful tour! I met Avril 8 years ago, on a strong winter, when we walked up to Curmatura hut in Piatra Craiului national park. This year, together with Nina, she came to see how our mountains look in the summer time! As you can clearly see in the photos, they look very well! We hiked in the Bucegi mountains, Bran county and it’s high hills. Together with Jon and Chris, I backpacked half of Fagaras mountains ridge on one of the wettest period of 2016, even if was July. Chris came from the UK especially for this tour, Jon works in Bucharest and does a lot of runs in the Romanian mountains, but the Fagaras mountains are special mountains, which require a lot of knowledge and skill. Thank you Horia and Iulian for two awesome days in Brasov and Piatra Craiului National Park! When I arrived in Rumania with my car and my bike the only thing I was sure about was that I want to explore some parts of the Carpathians. It was Angus’s turn to organize a hiking trip for his friends in 2016, and following a tradition of exploring less popular destinations, he opted for a trip to Romania to hike up the highest peak in Fagaras mountains. Up till now they went in self-guided tours, but going for a guided tour in the Romanian Alps proved to be a really great idea. The weather turned quite bad up at more than 2000m, with low temperatures, first snow of the year and disturbing winds.
