Israeli walking trip in Romania

We just returned from a wonderful 10 day vacation in the Carpathian Mountains in Romania: A special, enchanting walking trip that was created especially for us, custom-made to our measurements. Five great days in The Carpathians, Romania

We are a family from Denmark of four, including two teenagers.

This was our first trip to Romania. Thankfully, a good friend had recommended that we ask Iulian Cozma to be our guide. This turned out to be a fantastic recommendation. We had some experience in trekking, but not in mountainous regions. Already before we left for Romania Iulian gave us very good advice concerning equipment. (Especially the walking poles where a godsend). Iulian’s advice before the trip was in every way very adequate and saved us a lot of trouble

As usual on each year I do I walk on backyard of Brasov, the high hills of Rucar Bran pass. This year I enjoyed this walk together with a Danish family, which were astonished by our nature, and not the last, by our wild flowers. This year was something special, because until begin of July was pretty rainy, and all over we saw beautiful and interesting wild flowers. Enjoy the photos! Unexpected familiar weather was waiting Martin, Pat and Ryan in Brasov when they came to Romania for a mountain bike tour in the Bran Country. Based in Amsterdam and London, the three friends were accustomed to cycle in wet conditions. Definitely more than I am, as the weather around here gives you most of the time the freedom to get picky – “it’s kind of cloudy, I think I will stay home today”.

Hiking with nos amis Belges, Transylvania, Romania

We were 5 men looking for some trekking adventure, and this is where we found it. The whole experience has been a success, the organization, our mountain guide Horia (excellent man!) and the trek in itself was just excellent. The Carpatthians are stunning mountains, with very different landscapes as you move from an area to another over the days. We’ll be back some day, that is for sure. How many times did we say to our old classmates or childhood friends, on those rare occasion we see them: “You know what? We should do that more often. We should do something together regularly, like we used to”. And we don’t, because we are all too damn busy.

Well, some people actually do that. We’ve guided Swedes who were making yearly trips around the world with friends they made more than 30 years earlier. We’ve shown the wanders of Bran Country to a group of Belgians in their early thirties who already … (>>>)

What an amazing time again with your team! Thank you for making us discover an other face of Roumania, we really enjoyed it very much. And again, I cannot stress enough how much your team is great, human, natural etc… I highly recommend Iulian Cozma’s team to any mountain/bike/culture lover! Roumania is an amazing country such as it’s inhabitants.

Our first mtb tour of the 2014 season was scheduled just before Easter. A very sunny and warm beginning of April, coming after an equally warm and dry winter, gave as hopes for a perfect biking weather during our five days ride with Eileen and Yves.

Two days before starting the tour, winter finally came to our mountains. Not the best circumstances for a bike tour. Keeping our rides at lower altitudes, we fought our way through some wet snow and plenty of rain before switching for a day of ski-touring up in Poiana Brașov resort.
