Hiking in Romania, hiking in Transylvania, Fagaras mountains

Last week I’ve meet with Christa and Ole the beginning of the autumn and also the First end of it . It’s always like that during this time. The snow has to make it’s entry.

So we could see the earlier filled with tourist paths, now empty or with just a few people. The huts were the same, warm and friendly people up there. Being in the higher mountains was suddenly still. The weather was good for the autumn: clouds, fog, lower sun which generate longer shadows(better for picture taking) – everything was reminding us that it is Fall. The mood was r… (>>>)

Mountaineering in Bucegi mountains, South Carpathians

🙂 I can’t stop smiling, because the weather on this Autumn, or let’s be honest, begin of winter was fabulous for hiking. We didn’t get any rain since almost 4 weeks, and most of the days the weather was perfect. At least when I was hiking 😉 But now winter is coming, we have like 20-40 cm of fresh snow up there, and this make me happy!

Second large smile is because I was not in charge with the organization of this tour, and was good, was like a break after 10 years of organizing tours, and was nice and not the last good to be there ag… (>>>)

Challenging hiking in Romania, Bucegi mountains

I meet Mike almost three years ago, when he asked me for another challenging tour in Romanian mountains, climbing Moldoveanu peak, our highest peak, in just two days. Usually when somebody ask about this type of tour, are two options: very well prepared for hiking, or didn’t know exactly how are Fagaras mountains. Well, Mike do not disappoint me, and he’s part of the first option, very well prepared for hiking, in fact he’s a Marathon runner. So three years ago we were just fast and happy (not furious like the movie) t… (>>>)

Week end hiking in Fagaras mountains

Middle of August was hot and busy! It was a weekend tour during one of the busiest weekend for those who choose to go by car up to Balea Lake! I mean, was very busy! I have to walk on the road for 3 km to arrive at the hut, because the latest 3-4 km from Transfagarasean highway was full with cars…

Anyway, out tour was far from the drivers and cars!

After the tour we enjoyed a dinner in Ucea de Sus village, as usual I can say 🙂

Enjoy the photos, Iulian, Brasov city, 12 October… (>>>)

Hiking week end tour in Bucegi mountains

A short but nice hiking tour in Bucegi mountains, with a group of men from Holland. They choose to meet for a hiking tour in Romania, and they came from all over the world, from Amsterdam, from Munich and from … Shanghai.  We had good weather, and this was a good part, because they enjoy the tour.

First night we stayed in Brasov city, enjoying a good dinner and visiting the city. Next day we climbed Omu peak in Bucegi mountains, and we hiked to Ialomita valley on the border between Austro – Hungarian empire and Romania, Drumul Gra… (>>>)

Exploring Fagaras mountains

It was a tour like the tours have to be! I’m not saying that I not enjoy all my tours, because I really enjoy all my tours, but this one was special because of the tranquility of the Astird, Susanne and Holger, and not the last, because like all this summer, the weather was the right one for a hike in Fagaras mountains!

Our tour start from Ucea de Sus village, at the bottom of Fagaras mountains, with a hike of 6 1/2 hours to Podragu hut, where we arrived just with seconds before a heavy rain start, but as I said, we were lucky with the weather.  … (>>>)

Hiking vacation in Fagaras mountains and Ucea de Sus village

Omer, Ray, Or and Oran came to Romania form Israel to hike in the Fagaras Mountains. And some epic hiking they did: they were faced with harder physically and more challenging technically trails than they anticipated (or expected), but what they lacked in specific mountain skills (and gear) they more than compensated with determination, positive thinking and good humor. Always in the mood for singing, no matter how steep or rocky the mountain trails were, or how tired their legs were.We had our share of clouds but almost no rain (it on… (>>>)

Exploring Romanian mountains

I was asked many times by my guests if I’m not bored to do tours in the past 11 years over and over the same places, over and over same mountains, and clearly my answer is NO! First of all, I did tours with hundreds of different guests, from all over the world, and all of them have different stories to share, and all of them were surprised by my country, Romania. I can say that most of them came with not so many expectations about a hiking or a cultural tour in Romania, but at the end of the tour they really changed their opinion about my country… (>>>)
