Walking tour, Dracula county to painted monasteries in Moldova

June 2010 was a awkward summer month in Romania, with plenty of rain and cold weather. Not for Sonia and Scott, who spent about two weeks in the mountains, at the painted monasteries in Bucovina and in the Danube Delta.

We trekked through the Bucegi mountains, around Bran, Poarta, Simon, Moeciu, Fundata mountain villages and we enjoyed really good weather. It only rained over night, when we were safe back at our pension in Poarta (great food, brilliant place, quiet and relaxing place to rest after a long walking day) or at Padina.

Climbing highest peak in Romania

Greetings, In October 2010 I tried with Beth and Marc to climb Moldoveanu peak, on a three days hike, but the weather was not on our side. Up at Podragu hut was already snow, and too much snow for a safe climb on the top of Romania, Moldoveanu peak, 2544 m high, so we had to re-schedule the tour.

And we decide to do the tour on June 16-18, this year, and we succeeded, as you may see on the photos below. The tour start from Balea lake, with a wonderful hike to Podragu hut. Corina just opened Podragu hut with a day before we arrived there, so all was good … (>>>)

Wandern in Rumänien, Wandern in Siebenbürgen Bergdörfer

Greetings,

to be very honest my knowledge  about German language are not so great, I mean I can say that I speak some German, as basic conversation, but unfortunately for the moment I’m not able to lead a Walking & culture (Wandern und Kultur) tour on our nice mountain villages, but I think that I manage this type of tour very well in English 😉 Luckily Erika and Marcel spoke English, and like this we enjoyed our tour 🙂

My guests on middle of May, 16-21 May, were coming from Berlin, Erika and Marcel, and as you may see from photos below… (>>>)

Riding in Piatra Craiului National Park

This last weekend, 14 May 2011, we just finished the longest mountain biking tour ever :-). We started in August 2010 in Simon village and finished it in May 2011 further 20 kilometers away, near Zarnesti. You’d say quite a short ride for such a long time and you’d be right. The plan was to do the tour over one weekend last summer, but after a gorgeous Saturday the rain came. We weren’t able to reschedule the second part of the tour until this May, so voila, mystery revealed.

Steve and Robbie wanted to go on some more techni… (>>>)

Walking trip in Romania

Greetings,

in middle of April was a really winter in South East part of Transylvania, but after 10 days all the snow, like 1 meter, was gone and the terrain was just dry as nothing was there with one week before. Together with a Danish person, I did a 5 days walking tour on the high hills between Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains. Weather was good, not completely blue sky, but was ok. Below you may see some photos from our tour.

Kind regards, Iulian Cozma… (>>>)

Snow hiking in Romania, on Bran county hills

Greetings,

usually in middle of April we expect to have nice weather, green fields and at least some flowers. But in middle of April 2011 was exactly the opposite! In lower parts of Romania was raining, and on upper parts was snowing! I mean a lot of snow! On the hills of Bran county where we did our 4 days tour, the snow was around 1 meter …. But even like this the participants enjoyed the trip!

Best regards, Iulian

Skitouren und Kultur in Rumänien, in Süd-Siebenbürgen

Greetings,

well, I can say that I just finished my ski touring season with a nice and interesting tour, especially for my guests, which this time came from Switzerland!

Weather was so and so, I mean on some days was really foggy and we can’t reach Omu peak from Bucegi mountains, or windy, but in Fagaras mountains the weather and the snow were ok, and we enjoy our tours.

Probably the most interesting part for my guest was, as always on my tours, the visits in Ucea de Sus village. I say visits because we ‘been there two times during o… (>>>)

Sci alpinismo in Carpazi Rumeni

Traveling on this days for skiing or hiking is more than traveling, is also a opportunity to know a different country, different people, find more about a different culture and why not to enjoy a active holiday in a ex-communist country 🙂

At least these are most of the reasons for the people from country like Switzerland, Italy or Germany, because they are quite close to The Alps. BUT. I’ve been in Swiss Alps for ski touring 2 times, last time in February 2011, and was great, but know I understand what persons who are traveling in Romanian Ca… (>>>)
