Hiking in romania, Fagaras mountains hike

Our hike was short, but challenging.  Meaning that in one day we have to climb Moldoveanu peak, the highest one in Romanian mountains and to arrive to Balea Lake on Transfagarasean highway. Plan was simple, on first day we climb Moldoveanu peak and sleep at Podragu hut, next day we hike from Podragu to Balea Lake.

And this we did, on a loooong first day hiking, 9 1/2 hours, climbing 1926 meters during 22 km. Starting early morning from Ucea de Sus village, is a plus, because the first part of the day is on low morning temperatures. By climbing … (>>>)

Building the French Connection: VTT en Roumanie

The Postavaru Mountains, the Piatra Craiului National Park and the Bucegi Natural Park were our playground for an intensive four-days mountain biking adventure at the beginning of the 2018 season.

Our guests were a group of French “VTT-istes” from Lyon area. They enjoyed the great landscapes, the nice weather, the delicious local food, and, of course, the great trails.

We are slowly but firmly building a proper French Connection, putting Romania on the top destinations list for “les VTTistes français”… (>>>)

Cross country skiing in the Bucegi Mountains, Transylvania – March 17/25, 2018

At the end of March snow Gods were on our side, snow was enough and good quality for our cross country skiing tour in Bucegi and Postavaru mountains. The group of happy people from Genova enjoy the tour all the time, despite the weather conditions, low visibility, cold and windy, but hey, is March, is winter! Ski tour in Transylvania, Carpathian mountains

Seit Jahren stand es im Raum, dass wir mal in den Karpaten Skitouren gehen. 2017 war der Entschluss endlich gefasst und uns war klar: das machen wir mangels Orts- und Schneelagenkenntnis mit einem lokalen Guide. Nach kurzer Recherche und Kontaktaufnahme war die Wahl für Iulian leicht getroffen.

Ende Februar 2018 dann zu fünft per Flug von München nach Sibiu und von da an waren wir rundum betreut mit Fahrten, Unterkünften, Essen, Rundgängen zu Sehenswürdigkeiten, etc. Wir waren erst etwas skeptisch, denn wir hatten genau die Woche … (>>>)

Ski touring in Romanian Carpathians

First we were in Fagaras mountains, and we take advantage of good snow. And then the low temperatures, cloudy weather and strong winds make us to leave with a day early to Bucegi mountains. And as always, weather was on our side, during the traverse from Simon mountain village to Ialomita valley but also on next days. Powder and blu sky! Magical snowshoeing tour in Transylvanian mountains

​We are two keen, but not super-fit walkers, who are just hitting their 60s. We spent 8 days in Romania under the guidance of Iulian and his team. Everything was tailored to our capabilities and interests and we recommend this excellent company without reservation. The original plan had been for us to walk into the Bucegi mountains and stay in a mountain hut for two nights. Winter touring in magical Transylvania

 

The trails we do hike tours, mountain biking adventures or trail running trips for three seasons along the year suffer a magical transformation during the winter months. No flocks of sheep or scattered cows grazing on the vast pastures, no dogs roaming around the deserted farms, nothing to disturb a frozen landscape. Everything comes to a stand still, as if mesmerized by the truly unique landscape.

Amplid splitboards in Romanian mountains

Bereits zum zweiten mal ging es in die Karparten zum Splitboarden. Letztes Jahr waren wir schon begeistert von der Natur den Touren und dem tollen Essen. Waren wir bis jetzt „nur“ im Bucegi Gebirge unterwegs, so sollten es diesmal auch ein paar Tage im Fagaras sein. Die Bedingungen waren im Durchschnitt ziemlich gut und so hatten wir einige tolle Touren mit teilweise großartigen Abfahrten.

Splitboarding trip to Romania, Fagaras and Bucegi mountains

Michael and his wife Bianca were here, in Bucegi mountains last year at begin of January, and we did a ski touring, splitboard and snowshoeing trip in Bucegi mountains. We start at Sinaia resort, on beautiful spring time, even if was 5th of January, enjoying some some sunny days in Bucegi central part, and ending in big powder snow in Simon and Moeciu de Sus mountain villages!
