Young at heart: mountain biking the trails at 60

I don’t know about you, but I am pretty sure about me: it’s like Lubo and Milo that I want to be when I am sixty years old. On bike, riding single trails, sweating uphill and shouting downhill. Visiting new places, new countries, new mountains.

I read somewhere that the secret to have a healthy heart and a fresh mind is to do something that scares you a little in every day of your life. Well, we definitely provided enough testing moments for Milo and Lubo during the four days of mountain biking we organized for them this August. Th… (>>>)

Ski touring trip in Carpathian mountains, Romania

Was a group of friends and colleagues from university,  who usually enjoy skiing in The Alps, but they decide to see how are the Carpathian mountains in winter time. So, last February we enjoy a ski trip in Bucegi and Fagaras mountains, on perfect sunny days and powder snow! As always, we were almost the only skiers in both areas, and this was one of the nicest part! Bucegi mountains were great, our hosts Doina and Mircea, as always, very charming and welcoming people!

At Balea lake sky was blue, snow was as good as we wish, so the trip was jus… (>>>)

Active holiday in Romania, family hiking in Romanian Carpathians

They choose to spent a 3 weeks holiday in Romania, combining walking in the mountains with cultural visits and sitting in the sun. Was middle of August when we start the trip, start of September when we finish 🙂 So I was happy to organize for those two German families a trip as they wish, starting with Ocna Sibiului, Barcaciu hut in Fagaras mountains, Salvamont hut in Bucegi mountains, Sinaia, Sighisoara and Brasov cities, Viscri and Balea Lake tourist destinations and not the last, Poarta and Moeciu de Sus mountain villages. The trip we… (>>>)

Mountain biking in Brasov city area and Bucegi mountains

If there is something unique about mountain biking in Brasov, Romania, it’s the diversity of landscape and trails you can experience in a relatively small area. It’s always a pleasure to see the excitement of our guests when they witness with their own eyes the smooth transition from forest to alpine teritory, from limestone to conglomerate rock formations, from busy mountain resorts to quiet pastures. from high ridges down to mountain gorges.

Bucegi Circuit, our most popular six-days mountain biking tour, offers g… (>>>)

Hiking in Romania, Fagaras mountains from Piatra Craiului to Suru

Eileen and Yves. We “know” them since three summers, when we were first time contacted by Eileen mother, Christine, born in Brasov city and Fagaras mountain lover. Her father was bringing her to Fagaras mountains, Transylvanian Alps quite often, and also Eileen told me about her talks with her grand father about this mountains.

On 2013 they were hiking from Brasov to almost Olt valley, on different mountain ranges, accompanied by my colleague Mihai. On 2014 they came for a mountain biking tour with Horia, and they ende… (>>>)

Romania, Hiking Piatra Craiului national park and Bucegi mountains

I meet Artur and his friends 5 years ago, when we hiked in Fagaras mountains, traversing the main ridge from Bracaciu hut to Podragu hut, with a climb to the highest peaks in Romania. And after five years, they returned for another hike, this time in Piatra Craiului national park, Bucegi mountains and on Brasov backyard, the high hills of Bran area. I was happy to meet them again, and enjoy some sunny days on South Carpathian mountains! Our tour start with two days hike in Piatra Craiului national park, then we moved towards East, Moeciu de … (>>>)

Hiking Romania, Bucegi and Ciucas mountains, South Carpathian mountains

Even priests love nature, so on middle of June I had the pleasure to hike and talk with Karl Heintz, a priest from Bottrop, Germany. As always in June, we were hiking on the blooming period for mountain flowers, including the Rhododendrons, those beautiful mountain flowers. Our tour start in Bucegi mountains, and the original plan was to go to Fagaras area after Bucegi. But some last changes taking in consideration the weather forecast, bring us to Ciucas mountains, a small but beautiful mountain range in South East of Transylvania, n… (>>>)

Discovering the South-East Transylvania on mountain bike

The Saxon villages, the Bran Country, the Piatra Craiului National Park: three hotspots of Transylvanian tourism can be nicely covered in a rather relaxed three days mtb program, as showed by our recent trip with Eva and Christian this June.

The visit at Viscri fortified church, the mtb ride on the bike trails built along the mild slopes of the Transylvanian hills, through forests and meadows, the exquisite accommodation at Casa cu Zorele, the impressive Zarnesti Gorges and the imposing Piatra Craiului National Park, the scenic vi… (>>>)

Walking tour in Romania, Bran county tour

Danes have an average of 5 to 6 weeks of holidays every year, so no wonder they are a very wanderous kind of people. Denmark being a relatively small country, the Danes usually travel abroad to follow their typical North-European appetite for outdoor activities.

Torben and Jesper chose the Bran County in Romania for their hiking trip in April 2015, hoping for some nice spring weather and fresh-green landscape. It was spring indeed, but the weather was rather challenging, keeping us at lower altitudes to avoid the unexpected snow up on … (>>>)

Ski touring weekend in Bucegi mountains, Romania

If is possible to add a title to a ski tour this has to be: Never stop exploring! Because things like this have to happen: Bill, a 71 years old Australian gentelman, based in England, never stopped enjoying ski touring around the world. We were very impressed by his ski touring trips record around the world and by his determination when came about weather conditions! On first and last day of our trip, traversing Bucegi mountains from Sinaia to Ialomita valley, weather was bad, quite bad as a English may say! But a mountain lover never st… (>>>)
