Was the first snow from this year, but we were not scared about it. We were hiking in Bucegi mountains and Piatra Craiului national park, on snow, sun and beautiful weather. They came from Luxembourg, being hiking on other different places before this trip. And, as almost always, Mike, Dan and their friends were surprised by our mountains, and not by our food. We were welcomed by Mircea and Doina Opris in Bucegi mountains, and by Alina from Simon mountains village. Our trips went smooth and calm, enjoying the views, the landscape and all … (>>>)

Was a group of friends and colleagues from university, who usually enjoy skiing in The Alps, but they decide to see how are the Carpathian mountains in winter time. So, last February we enjoy a ski trip in Bucegi and Fagaras mountains, on perfect sunny days and powder snow! As always, we were almost the only skiers in both areas, and this was one of the nicest part! Bucegi mountains were great, our hosts Doina and Mircea, as always, very charming and welcoming people!
At Balea lake sky was blue, snow was as good as we wish, so the trip was jus… (>>>)
They were splitboarding in Romania last January. And they return because they enjoyed! This year weather was much better than last year, but the poor winter conditions across all Europe, was presented here too.
Anyway, we take the best out of this snow conditions, and we enjoy nice weather tours in Bucegi mountains. Then we moved in the forest around Brasov city, for a walk in spring weather conditions around the forest of Brasov. As Sander and Ela said, we are so fortunate to live in Brasov, because you can start hiking or biking directl… (>>>)
Things looked pretty difficult when Linda told me, upon arrival, that this trip to Romania was presented to her as “the best hiking trip one can have””. Not before mentioning, as a side note, that she had traveled across the continents, seeing most the world known attractions around the globe :-). In between trips, she was living in a quiet island, famous around the world for harbouring the capital city of British Columbia, Canada.
That’s what I’d call high expectations, I told myself while driving t… (>>>)
I meet Artur and his friends 5 years ago, when we hiked in Fagaras mountains, traversing the main ridge from Bracaciu hut to Podragu hut, with a climb to the highest peaks in Romania. And after five years, they returned for another hike, this time in Piatra Craiului national park, Bucegi mountains and on Brasov backyard, the high hills of Bran area. I was happy to meet them again, and enjoy some sunny days on South Carpathian mountains! Our tour start with two days hike in Piatra Craiului national park, then we moved towards East, Moeciu de … (>>>)
I am just back from a week of backcountry skiing tour That Iulian organized for our group in the Carpathian Mountains. He over delivered compared to our expectations. Iulian is not only a mountain lover able to transmit his passion. He is also trustworthy on all aspects of a trip, including the sometimes boring logistics. A very competent and trustworthy mountain guide but also a nice person with a great sense of humour. I strongly recommend Iulian to anyone wanting to discover the Romanian wilderness. Hiking in Romania it is an unexpected experience for most of the visitors. And like this it was for the Belgium group of hikers from this August. As they are coming from a flat country like Belgium, cycling is the most common sport there. Also, they were good for hiking too, especially on long hikes witch involve a lot of climbing. Not the last, they were jealous when they saw Transfagarasean highway, a long asphalt road with climb 1500 meters, in central part of Fagaras mountains. Of course I told them that our Swedish friends climb it … (>>>)
As it happen quite a lot of times on last years, Hans came with some friends to walk on his home country mountain, Bucegi mountains in Romania. Since then he was in Romania just one more time, in early ’90, and on this September he returned together with 4 friends to explore the Carpathian garden.

Sheila was having something for what some of us just dream, one month ski holiday in Europe. Well, I can start this story back in 2009, when we start to talk about Romanian mountains, traverse of Fagaras main ridge. in Summer of course. After two years, in September 2011 we did the Fagaras main traverse, in just 5 days, excellent tour. You may see the photos here. Well, after the hike we did in Fagaras, and why not, after the photos from my ski touring tours I send to Sheila, she decided that one week from the four weeks skiing holiday in Europe, … (>>>)
