Hiking in Transylvanian Alps, Fagaras mountains

Greetings,

I meet Gavin last year in June, when I was hiking in Bucegi mountains after a tour on Fagaras main ridge . He was alone, enjoying a tour in Bucegi mountains. We speak for few minutes and we remain in contact for future mountains tours in Romanian mountains. And this was happen this June, when Gavin was coming back in Romania for 2 weeks active holiday, hiking enjoying nature’s unique beauty, history and traditions and and not the last enjoying Romanian food 🙂

At the begin of our trip we hiked in West part of Transylvanian Al… (>>>)

Wandern in Rumänien, Wandern in Siebenbürgen Bergdörfer

Greetings,

to be very honest my knowledge  about German language are not so great, I mean I can say that I speak some German, as basic conversation, but unfortunately for the moment I’m not able to lead a Walking & culture (Wandern und Kultur) tour on our nice mountain villages, but I think that I manage this type of tour very well in English 😉 Luckily Erika and Marcel spoke English, and like this we enjoyed our tour 🙂

My guests on middle of May, 16-21 May, were coming from Berlin, Erika and Marcel, and as you may see from photos below… (>>>)

Riding in Piatra Craiului National Park

This last weekend, 14 May 2011, we just finished the longest mountain biking tour ever :-). We started in August 2010 in Simon village and finished it in May 2011 further 20 kilometers away, near Zarnesti. You’d say quite a short ride for such a long time and you’d be right. The plan was to do the tour over one weekend last summer, but after a gorgeous Saturday the rain came. We weren’t able to reschedule the second part of the tour until this May, so voila, mystery revealed.

Steve and Robbie wanted to go on some more techni… (>>>)

Walking trip in Romania

Greetings,

in middle of April was a really winter in South East part of Transylvania, but after 10 days all the snow, like 1 meter, was gone and the terrain was just dry as nothing was there with one week before. Together with a Danish person, I did a 5 days walking tour on the high hills between Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains. Weather was good, not completely blue sky, but was ok. Below you may see some photos from our tour.

Kind regards, Iulian Cozma… (>>>)

Snow hiking in Romania, on Bran county hills

Greetings,

usually in middle of April we expect to have nice weather, green fields and at least some flowers. But in middle of April 2011 was exactly the opposite! In lower parts of Romania was raining, and on upper parts was snowing! I mean a lot of snow! On the hills of Bran county where we did our 4 days tour, the snow was around 1 meter …. But even like this the participants enjoyed the trip!

Best regards, Iulian

Skitouren und Kultur in Rumänien, in Süd-Siebenbürgen

Greetings,

well, I can say that I just finished my ski touring season with a nice and interesting tour, especially for my guests, which this time came from Switzerland!

Weather was so and so, I mean on some days was really foggy and we can’t reach Omu peak from Bucegi mountains, or windy, but in Fagaras mountains the weather and the snow were ok, and we enjoy our tours.

Probably the most interesting part for my guest was, as always on my tours, the visits in Ucea de Sus village. I say visits because we ‘been there two times during o… (>>>)

Sci alpinismo in Carpazi Rumeni

Traveling on this days for skiing or hiking is more than traveling, is also a opportunity to know a different country, different people, find more about a different culture and why not to enjoy a active holiday in a ex-communist country 🙂

At least these are most of the reasons for the people from country like Switzerland, Italy or Germany, because they are quite close to The Alps. BUT. I’ve been in Swiss Alps for ski touring 2 times, last time in February 2011, and was great, but know I understand what persons who are traveling in Romanian Ca… (>>>)

Skitouren im Rumänischen Gebirge

Well, winter is here, winter was here! I mean last week, 5-12 March 2011, was really winter, with strong winds, below zero temperatures and not the last good snow! Now the temperatures are over zero, but is still OK.

Our tour start in Bucegi mountains, where the weather was bad but good for skiing, if is possible to say something like this! Visibility was not great, BUT the snow was more than great! We have between 30-40 cm of fresh snow, and we enjoyed very much some runs from Tataru peak and Strungile mici peak, down to Cabana Padina, where w… (>>>)

Ski touring in Fagaras mountains

Greetings, Last week,12-20 February, we have been with Michael and Christian(from Germany) in Fagaras and Bucegi Mountains.

At the beginning of the tour we had a vey nice cold weather with a bit less snow then we would have liked. We start in Sambata Valley from the Salvamont hut and went in Fereastra Mare a Sambetei walking over and between a lot of icy mushrooms and wind slabs. Up there we ahead to Urlea peak but instead doing the long traverse in not the best conditions for split boards we decide to have some fun riding in the Bandei Bowl. T… (>>>)

Ski touring in Bucegi mountains

Greetings,

well, I can say that was a great weekend for a ski tour in Bucegi mountains, and it was. Even if at 7 AM were -25 Celsius, during the day was just nice to be outside on snow. And was enough snow, even that on the main ski resorts from Romania snow is still missing!

Saturday I was with 2 friends skiing on West part of Bucegi mountains, and we really enjoy this! Sunday morning I went up to Bucegi plateau to meet my wife Rosana, and Mihai and Alex went to Omu peak to ski down on Cerbului valley. They had a nice ski descent on Cerbului valley towa… (>>>)
