Michael and his wife Bianca were here, in Bucegi mountains last year at begin of January, and we did a ski touring, splitboard and snowshoeing trip in Bucegi mountains. We start at Sinaia resort, on beautiful spring time, even if was 5th of January, enjoying some some sunny days in Bucegi central part, and ending in big powder snow in Simon and Moeciu de Sus mountain villages!
And this winter Michael together with another two friends, return to our mountains again. West Fagaras and Bucegi mountains. As always, at Barcaciu hutte, we were … (>>>)
This is happening when you son study medicine in Cluj Napoca University: you go to visit him, but you bring your ski touring gear with you, because are some nice mountains and powder to ski!
And this Octavian and Bettina did, they came for a ski tour in Fagaras and Bucegi montains, one of the best and most accessible mountains for ski touring in Romania.
Even if the weather at Balea lake was a truly winter weather, cold and wind storms, we enjoyed blue sky and powder snow during our trips in Bucegi mountains.
Enjoy the photos,

Was the first snow from this year, but we were not scared about it. We were hiking in Bucegi mountains and Piatra Craiului national park, on snow, sun and beautiful weather.
They came from Luxembourg, being hiking on other different places before this trip. And, as almost always, Mike, Dan and their friends were surprised by our mountains, and not by our food. We were welcomed by Mircea and Doina Opris in Bucegi mountains, and by Alina from Simon mountains village.
Our trips went smooth and calm, enjoying the views, the landscape and all … (>>>)
Was a group of friends and colleagues from university, who usually enjoy skiing in The Alps, but they decide to see how are the Carpathian mountains in winter time.
So, last February we enjoy a ski trip in Bucegi and Fagaras mountains, on perfect sunny days and powder snow!
As always, we were almost the only skiers in both areas, and this was one of the nicest part!
Bucegi mountains were great, our hosts Doina and Mircea, as always, very charming and welcoming people!
At Balea lake sky was blue, snow was as good as we wish, so the trip was jus… (>>>)
Every now and then (and there is quite a big gap between now and then) we get the chance to hike with fellow Romanians. It gets a little bit weird in the beginning, as we are much more used to speak English than Romanian, but we adapt easy to any situation :).
Hikers tend to be friendly, open minded people, with plenty of stories to share. This time was no different, and the ever changing scenery of the Bran Country and the Bucegi Natural Park can only add to the atmosphere. Starting in a green and sunny Moeciu de Sus, going up to the last patches o… (>>>)
Best way to get fit for a wedding party on the other side of the world? Three good days of proper mountain hiking through all kind of weather, from mild spring to full-winter blizzards and thunder-storm pouring snow.
Maybe that wasn’t exactly what our two Canadian friends had in mind when they asked us to help organize a few days of hiking in the Carpathian Mountains, to fill in some vacation days before joining some friends’ wedding. But that’s definitely what they’ve got on their plates, and they totally enj… (>>>)
Christian came to Romania, from Switzerland, with an old Cannondale bike, hand made in USA, to do our Bucegi Circuit, a six-days mountain biking tour. It was also supposed to be a retiring party for the old bike, to be replaced by a brand new 27.5 full suspension bike.
And a party it was, with perfect weather, perfect trails, relaxed atmosphere – hand made in Romania, by mtbtours.ro and mountainguide.ro 🙂

If is possible to add a title to a ski tour this has to be: Never stop exploring!
Because things like this have to happen: Bill, a 71 years old Australian gentelman, based in England, never stopped enjoying ski touring around the world. We were very impressed by his ski touring trips record around the world and by his determination when came about weather conditions! On first and last day of our trip, traversing Bucegi mountains from Sinaia to Ialomita valley, weather was bad, quite bad as a English may say! But a mountain lover never st… (>>>)
They are from Zaragoza, near the Pirineos and they were first time in Romania on winter of 2012, when the weather was not on our side.
Anyway, after 3 years they returned to see if we can discover now the Romanian mountains on better weather. And we did! The first plan was Bucegi and Fagaras mountains, but at the end was Bucegi mountains and a speed climbing tour on Poiana Brasov ski resort, on a heavy snowing day!
This time Bucegi mountains were great and we enjoyed everything, snow, sun, weather conditions and not the last the delicious foo… (>>>)
During a winter tour, weather can bring you to heaven or not! Something like this was happening during our splitboard trip in Bucegi mountains, at the end of February, when weather was not as good as we expected!
We did our best, we climbed Tataru peak in one of the days when was worth to go out, but the most beautiful day was the last one, when we get 30 cm of fresh snow, and we enjoyed our way back to Sinaia!
Enjoy the photos,
