Hiking in Fagaras mountains, culture trip in Transylvania

A tour that allowed to me to meet very interesting persons, from diferent countries and cultures. We hiked in Fagaras mountains, the Transylvanian Alps, climbing the highest peaks in Romania, Moldoveanu and Negoiu peaks, and as always, we enjoyed a dinner on my grandmother village, Ucea de Sus. After our outstanding hike in Fagaras mountains, we enjoyed the visits in Sibiu city, the formes European capital of Culture in 2007, Sighisoara medieval town, Brasov city and not the last the capital city of Romania, Bucharest!

Very interesting people, very happy to meet them and hike with them!

As a person new to trekking, I was just a bit intimidated when my friends invited me to go to Romania. My friends have been to so many far away places, and the entire group was very experienced. However, when I joined in on the trip, I found that trekking is really fun, and with just a bit of preparation – it’s really not so difficult. Additionally, I learned that having the right guide on your trip makes all the difference in the world. Having Iulian Cozma as our guide was absolutely the best decision we made. Not only did he plan everything perfectly, he handled the terrain, the personalities, and the minor issues that popped up, all with grace, humor, and with a huge smile that was contagious to the group. We hiked for 3 days straight, 9 hours a day, and stayed in a wonderful hut overnight, while climbing the 3 highest peaks in Romania. We then spent 3 days together seeing various sites of interest, and experiencing the local culture. Iulian made sure we all had a fabulous trip, he insured that we were extremely well fed, and even the most experienced guys in our group said that Iulian was the best guide they had ever had.

I would recommend Iulian Cozma Mountain Guiding to anybody interested in trekking or sightseeing in Romania. He surely is a person of integrity, and one who provides his guests with the very best of Romanian hospitality.

I’m part of a group of guys that every year goes on a combination trek/cultural trip in some faraway part of the world. We always use an in-country guide to put our trips together.

Iulian is the best guide we have had. He is a rare combination of a first-rate guide, a great companion and a businessman with an excellent attention to detail both in the trip planning stages and during the actual trip. It’s that last quality where most hiking guides fall down and it’s the difference for a so-so trip and a great trip for a group. This didn’t stop when our trip ended – I’d only been home a few days when a number of photos (an unexpected surprise) arrived via email from Iulian.

Iulian was able to handle unexpected problems such as one member getting injured and having to quit the trek in the middle of nowhere with ease. He’s well connected and was able to find experts for several cultural side trips we wanted to do, some at the last minute. And he knows where to go for great food – everything from a home made feast at his mother’s house to giant spreads in fabulous restaurants just happened.

Plus, he’s just a really good guy who’s fun to talk to.

If you’re going to visit the mountains in Romania – look no further. You’ve found the best. Hire him!
