Mountaineering in Bucegi mountains, South Carpathians

🙂 I can’t stop smiling, because the weather on this Autumn, or let’s be honest, begin of winter was fabulous for hiking. We didn’t get any rain since almost 4 weeks, and most of the days the weather was perfect. At least when I was hiking 😉 But now winter is coming, we have like 20-40 cm of fresh snow up there, and this make me happy!

Second large smile is because I was not in charge with the organization of this tour, and was good, was like a break after 10 years of organizing tours, and was nice and not the last good to be there ag… (>>>)

Walking tour in Carpathians, Bucegi mountains, Romania

Maybe the mountains are the same as last weekend, but the weather, the clouds and the hikers make the difference as always. This weekend, 26-27 November, I was traversing Bucegi mountains with Beth, Carmen, Marc and Catalin, on a easier but challenging route. We hiked on the plateau of Bucegi mountains from Babele cable car station to Omu peak the highest peak in Bucegi mountains, enjoying the views which surround us wherever we look, because the weather was one more time on our side.

I left Brasov early morning, the clouds were the same … (>>>)

Challenging hiking in Romania, Bucegi mountains

I meet Mike almost three years ago, when he asked me for another challenging tour in Romanian mountains, climbing Moldoveanu peak, our highest peak, in just two days. Usually when somebody ask about this type of tour, are two options: very well prepared for hiking, or didn’t know exactly how are Fagaras mountains. Well, Mike do not disappoint me, and he’s part of the first option, very well prepared for hiking, in fact he’s a Marathon runner. So three years ago we were just fast and happy (not furious like the movie) t… (>>>)

Walking day tour in Romania, Bran village hills

Was a beautiful Monday morning when we start our walk on the hills of Bran village. I hiked on this hills few weeks ago with Beth and Marc, and it was almost winter. But the sunny and cold days of Autumn came back, and we were able to enjoy a walk on a sunny day, having the opportunity too see all the mountains and nature around us.  Bucegi and Piatra Craiului mountains offer us some of the best opportunities to take nice pictures, and of course we didn’t miss them.

Enjoy the photos, Iulian, November 2011

Hiking week end tour in Bucegi mountains

A short but nice hiking tour in Bucegi mountains, with a group of men from Holland. They choose to meet for a hiking tour in Romania, and they came from all over the world, from Amsterdam, from Munich and from … Shanghai.  We had good weather, and this was a good part, because they enjoy the tour.

First night we stayed in Brasov city, enjoying a good dinner and visiting the city. Next day we climbed Omu peak in Bucegi mountains, and we hiked to Ialomita valley on the border between Austro – Hungarian empire and Romania, Drumul Gra… (>>>)

Traveler to Romania, walking and culture

End of June offer the possibility to enjoy a tour through Transylvania, Maramures and Bucovina counties, Dracula castle, wooden churches and painted monasteries. It was a long tour, almost 2 weeks, and during those two weeks weather was quite challenging. From high temperatures in Bucegi mountain to zero Celsius and  snow up in Fagaras mountains, and good weather for walking in Maramures county, we had them all. Was a tour for those type of persons who are really interested to see as much they can during those two weeks, and they enjoy… (>>>)

Walking tour, Dracula county to painted monasteries in Moldova

June 2010 was a awkward summer month in Romania, with plenty of rain and cold weather. Not for Sonia and Scott, who spent about two weeks in the mountains, at the painted monasteries in Bucovina and in the Danube Delta.

We trekked through the Bucegi mountains, around Bran, Poarta, Simon, Moeciu, Fundata mountain villages and we enjoyed really good weather. It only rained over night, when we were safe back at our pension in Poarta (great food, brilliant place, quiet and relaxing place to rest after a long walking day) or at Padina.

Greetings,

well, I can say that I just finished my ski touring season with a nice and interesting tour, especially for my guests, which this time came from Switzerland!

Weather was so and so, I mean on some days was really foggy and we can’t reach Omu peak from Bucegi mountains, or windy, but in Fagaras mountains the weather and the snow were ok, and we enjoy our tours.

Probably the most interesting part for my guest was, as always on my tours, the visits in Ucea de Sus village. I say visits because we ‚been there two times during o… (>>>)
