Skitouren im Rumänischen Gebirge

Well, winter is here, winter was here! I mean last week, 5-12 March 2011, was really winter, with strong winds, below zero temperatures and not the last good snow! Now the temperatures are over zero, but is still OK.

Our tour start in Bucegi mountains, where the weather was bad but good for skiing, if is possible to say something like this! Visibility was not great, BUT the snow was more than great! Ski touring in Fagaras mountains

Greetings, Last week,12-20 February, we have been with Michael and Christian(from Germany) in Fagaras and Bucegi Mountains.

At the beginning of the tour we had a vey nice cold weather with a bit less snow then we would have liked. We start in Sambata Valley from the Salvamont hut and went in Fereastra Mare a Sambetei walking over and between a lot of icy mushrooms and wind slabs. Ski touring in Bucegi mountains

well, I can say that was a great weekend for a ski tour in Bucegi mountains, and it was. Even if at 7 AM were -25 Celsius, during the day was just nice to be outside on snow. And was enough snow, even that on the main ski resorts from Romania snow is still missing!

Saturday I was with 2 friends skiing on West part of Bucegi mountains, and we really enjoy this! Sunday morning I went up to Bucegi plateau to meet my wife Rosana, and Mihai and Alex went to Omu peak to ski down on Cerbului valley. They had a nice ski descent on Cerbului valley towa… (>>>)

Winter hiking in South West of Transylvania

Greetings! at the begin of January 2011, together with 4 young persons, I did a nice winter hike on the hills situated between Piatra Craiului and Bucegi mountains, on South East part of Transylvania. They celebrate the New Year’s Eve in Bucharest, then travel to Predeal and Brasov, and were start our tour on morning of  4th of January. Our tour was a easy walking and hiking tour, but quite long I can say, because daily we cover a distance of approximate 20 km, from one location to other.

Walking in Romania, walk with Crumblies Walking Club

Crumblies in Bucegi Mountains – Having walked and climbed in India, Africa, Slovakia, Czech Republik, Morocco and all over the UK, Crumblies Walking Club (UK) turned their attentions to Romania in early October 2010. Wandern Reisen in Karpaten

Greetings! some photos from end of September, 18-25 September 2010, from a tour with a small group from Südtirol, in South East part of Transylvania, in Bucegi mountains, Ciucas mountains, and on the high hills of Piatra Craiului and Bran county. After almost 30 cm of fresh snow at the begin of September, we were very lucky with the weather, and the tour was a success!

Hiking in Romania, hiking in Transylvanian Apls

At middle of September I was guiding Trudy and John on Fagaras mountains, for a classic tour in Transylvanian Alps: climbing the top three highest peaks, Moldoveanu 2544 m, Negoiu 2535 m and Vistea Mare 2527 m high.

They came here from Virginia, USA, to visit a friend in a small village near Turda, and they have some days free for a tour! We were very lucky with the weather, and our tour goes very well, as you may see on the photos below!

Kammwanderung in Rumänien

Geführt von Iulian Cozma wanderten 10 Mitglieder des Pfälzerwald Vereins Ortsgruppe Worms in den Südkarpaten vom 06. – 15. August 2010

Wir flogen mit Austrian Airlines von Frankfurt über Wien nach Hermanstadt (Sibiu) und zurück. Die Wanderung begann von der Poiana Neamtului und ging über die Barcaciu-Hütte, Negoi-Hütte, Balea-Lac-Hotel, Podragu-Hütte und endete in Victoria-Stadt.

Eines der Höhepunkte war die Besteigung des Moldoveanu-Gipfels (2545 m) des höchsten Berges der rumänischen Karpaten.

All mountain, all weather We had it all. A few spells of hot temperatures and sun, fluffy white clouds and spring time temperatures higher up in Bucegi, torrential rain but also autumn like drizzles, sometimes patches of fog. We were not spoiled by the weather, but we were spoiled with a full range of mountain biking trails, treks, roads, routes, you name it – the harsh ascent up to Baiului ridge, the tricky and scary trails up in Bucegi mountains, the descents at Sinaia, Postavaru, the scenic gorges of Zarnesti, the great views on … (>>>)
