Two weeks in Romania and our time spent with Iulian was our most memorable. What a challenge! How to organize a successful family hiking trip for grandparents, parents and kids? Iulian pulled it off masterfully! We were all challenged to our limits (except maybe my husband and I who are dreaming of returning to Romania to do some bigger mountains and some ski touring in the powdery Romanian snow) It was a wonderful family bonding experience. We came, 4 Swedes ranging from age 43 to 71, with high expectations that were surpassed. Starting a bit harder than we trained for, Horia and Iulian made a fantastic job in adapting the tour to our limitations. Beatiful nature, good food and friendly people wherever we went.

The trip was crowned by the visit to Iulian’s grandmother which gave us the possibility to see Romanian old culture together with the new in Brasov and talking a lot with Horia.

Vi kom, 4 personer mellan 43 och 71, med höga förväntningar som överträffades. Vandringen startade något tuffare än vi tränat för, men Horia och Iulian gjorde ett fantastiskt jobb med att anpassa vandringen till våra begränsningar. Vacker natur, god mat och trevliga människor var vi än kom.

Vandringen kröntes med besöket hos Iulians mormor vilket gav oss möjligheten att se Rumäniens gamla kultur, tillsammans med den nya i Brazow och som Horia berättade om.

Für mich war es eher eine Reflexionsübung, um den täglichen Arbeitsstress etc. aus dem Kopf und auf andere Gedanken zu kommen. Hat tatsächlich funktioniert, da es für mich schon eine gewisse Anstrengung bedeutet hat. Ich fühlte mich von dir allerdings nicht unter Druck gesetzt … im Gegenteil. By a handwritten poster with our first names, we two women from Germany met at the airport of Bucarest with a friendly reception by Gabriel`schauffeur and were brought to our first accomodation.

By the way from the driver we learned a lot about the country and its people – in excellent English!

At destination we were welcome by Mihai, for the next 8 days our ( mountain) guide. From the beginning we got along with each other splendidly, we felt at home with Mihai very much (his German is fantastic!), he was considerate, very competen… (>>>)

As a person new to trekking, I was just a bit intimidated when my friends invited me to go to Romania. My friends have been to so many far away places, and the entire group was very experienced. However, when I joined in on the trip, I found that trekking is really fun, and with just a bit of preparation – it’s really not so difficult.
