O familie din America bucurandu-se de natura in muntii Romaniei

They came from California to visit her family in Berlin. And because 10 years ago, if I remember well, I was hiking with some of their friends, Tanja and her family decide to spent a week hiking in Romania. Even if our plans were changed by the weather conditions, we were lucky enough where we hiked in Bucegi mountains and in Fagaras mountains. The kids were fantastic! They enjoy every single moments of their holiday, even playing on rain! And sure, we stayed one night in Ucea de Sus village, my grandmother village, on the 1892 renovated hou… (>>>)

Hiking and walking in Romania, Fagaras and Bucegi mountains

It was a pretty wet summer, but if you know how to make from this an advantage it works very well for both parties! Like this was happen during my tour with Franck and Sibille, on early July this year. Frank was hiking in Fagaras mountain almost 30 years ago, and was coming back to hike them again.

After a pleasant evening in Ucea de Sus village, we start our journey to Fagaras mountains. Weather in this beautiful mountains was so so, and after three days there we decide to move in Brasov backyard, the high hills of Poarta and Moeciu de Sus villag… (>>>)

Israeli walkers in Carpathian garden, Romania

Few years ago, an Israeli hiker told me: you can leave me here, near this river, and I just stay to look at the running water for hours or days! What we need is green forest and running water! And Paz was right! Almost every year a group of Israeli nature lovers choose to hike or bike with us. And each time we are surprised how „hungry” for nature they are. The weather is not so important if they are out in back-country, even if is rainy or beautiful sunny day, because they are enjoying every moment of their holiday in our Carpathian g… (>>>)

Snow walking in Transylvania

It was freezing cold and pouring with rain the day I met Antonia and Annabel in the city center of Brasov. We were to discuss about our scheduled trekking tour up in the Carpathian Mountains and the weather wasn’t looking very promising.

I was in for a nice surprise. The two former Oxford students would not be put off by a few drops of rain, even if they hoped for a nice, warm, sunny autumn – as anyone would expect for an early October in Romania. It’s true that there weren’t just a few drops, but quite plenty, and not r… (>>>)

Fagaras mountains, Israeli hikers in Romania

It took them more than two years of preparations before actually arriving to Romania, but the wait was totally worth the while. Eran, Omer and their father Eli came to Romania to enjoy the lush forests, the mountain rivers and lakes: views that are available in very limited supply in Israel.

We walked the trails of Bucegi, Piatra Craiului, Bran County, Fagaras Mountains. We weren’t the fastest, nor the more spirited of the trekkers – but we were definitely taking the best brakes. Fresh made coffee (thanks Omer), home made … (>>>)

Hiking in Fagaras mountains, culture trip in Transylvania

A tour that allowed to me to meet very interesting persons, from diferent countries and cultures. We hiked in Fagaras mountains, the Transylvanian Alps, climbing the highest peaks in Romania, Moldoveanu and Negoiu peaks, and as always, we enjoyed a dinner on my grandmother village, Ucea de Sus. After our outstanding hike in Fagaras mountains, we enjoyed the visits in Sibiu city, the formes European capital of Culture in 2007, Sighisoara medieval town, Brasov city and not the last the capital city of Romania, Bucharest!

Very intere… (>>>)

Photo tour in Fagaras Mountains and Medieval Transylvania, Romania

Photo tour in Fagaras Mountains and Medieval Transylvania

Our very first guests from Hong Kong arrived in Romania this summer in order to see the Fagaras Mountains and some of the historical sites in the South of Transylvania. While the trekking proved to be more demanding physically and technically than anticipated, the photo opportunities where always in abundance.

Great weather up in the mountains but also at the fortified churches in Cincsor and Cincu, at the old Cistercian Monastery in Carta or at the Sambata Orthodox Monaste… (>>>)
