Climbing highest peak in Romania, rhododendron tour in Fagaras mountains

An unusually crowded Podragu hut welcomed us mid-June for a three days escape up on the Fagaras Ridge. Together with Marga and Thomas we climbed up to Moldoveanu Peak, marching through patches of blooming rhododendrons, enjoying some marvelous views and nice weather. It was a surprise to see so many trekkers up the mountain so early in the season. Most of them were from outside Romania, coming from France, Belgium, The Czech Republic, Israel. Apart from the staff working at the Podragu hut and some shepherds scattered along the trail… (>>>)

Hiking in Carpathian garden, Romanian mountains

Sometimes less is more, even in mountaineering Every now and then we have guests that overestimate their abilities – or underestimate the difficulties of the Romanian trails high up in the mountains. The altitudes here are not as impressive as in the Alps or the Dolomite mountains (the main ridges are just above 2000m with highest peaks barely scratching the 2500m limit), but the vertical drops from the valleys to the main ridges are more or less similar, with equally demanding trails. We are proud to say that we never let that sp… (>>>)

Hiking in Carpathian mountains, Romania, Fagaras mountains, Transylvanian Alps

I always love to hike in Fagaras mountains on autumn, and when Anja ask me to plan a tour where we’ll meet nobody, I was happy to propose her a tour in Fagaras mountains, because there you meet nobody. And like this it was!

We hiked for 5 days, on very god weather and some cloudy days, but we both enjoyed the beautiful sunsets and silence of the mountains, and not the last the cranberries from the forest of Barcaciu hut, in West of Fagaras mountains.

We also spent a night in Ucea de Sus village, where is still possible to realize what is mean … (>>>)

A tour that allowed to me to meet very interesting persons, from diferent countries and cultures. We hiked in Fagaras mountains, the Transylvanian Alps, climbing the highest peaks in Romania, Moldoveanu and Negoiu peaks, and as always, we enjoyed a dinner on my grandmother village, Ucea de Sus. After our outstanding hike in Fagaras mountains, we enjoyed the visits in Sibiu city, the formes European capital of Culture in 2007, Sighisoara medieval town, Brasov city and not the last the capital city of Romania, Bucharest!

Escursione in Transilvania, CAI Esperia

Caro Julian

Active family vacation in South East Transylvania, Romania

Family vacation in Romania

A little bit of everything: some trekking in Piatra Craiului and Fagaras,  visits to Bran Castle and walks into Brasov city center, samples of authentic rural life in places like Viscri or Ucea de Sus villages, a little bit of fishing at Beclean village and Panicel resort,  a short visit to the lipizzener stud in Sambata de Jos and some riding sessions at  Popasul Craiului and at Panicel. Plenty of activities to keep a Swiss based German family  of four busy for almost ten days in the South of Transylvania.

Photo tour in Fagaras Mountains and Medieval Transylvania, Romania

Photo tour in Fagaras Mountains and Medieval Transylvania

Our very first guests from Hong Kong arrived in Romania this summer in order to see the Fagaras Mountains and some of the historical sites in the South of Transylvania. While the trekking proved to be more demanding physically and technically than anticipated, the photo opportunities where always in abundance.

Great weather up in the mountains but also at the fortified churches in Cincsor and Cincu, at the old Cistercian Monastery in Carta or at the Sambata Orthodox Monaste… (>>>)

Belgian scouts on the highest peak in Romania, Moldoveanu peak 2544 meters high

On the top of Romania, When Elena contacted us for a trekking tour in the Fagaras mountains I knew that if the weather will let us (and fortunately we had a great weather), it’s going to be a interesting experience for all the people involved.

Elena was leading a group of young Belgian scouts, so from the very begining I was expecting a lot of enthusiasm and so it was. During the three days we had a great time in the mountains and I know for sure they will not forget the moments when it was hard but they succed to overcome all the dificulties… (>>>)

Schweizer Freunde auf einer Skitour in Rumänien, Bucegi und Fagaras Gebirge

I can describe the tour on very few words: great people, nice weather, but it will be a pity! So the long version is like this: it was a group of five friends, all from Switzerland, coming for one week ski tour in Romanian mountains, Bucegi and Fagaras. Very nice people, with a lot of humor and a big desire to see new places and to meet local people! Maybe we didn’t had the best snow conditions, was quite warm for this period of the year, but even like this we enjoyed our ski tours and the visits in Ucea de Sus village, Brasov and Bucharest cit… (>>>)
