We returned for our second consecutive summer in Romania visiting the Danube Delta and also the Maramures region in the north. It was the perfect combination of bird-watching and hiking. Well, well, well the three ladies from Hong Kong spent a second consecutive summer holiday in Romania, and this time they brought Clara too. As last year holiday, this one was a share between exploring Romanian cuisine and nature, but on different regions of the country. Walking on the borders of old empires

The spectacular mountain ridges of the South Carpathian Mountains, stretching from East to West on the Southern limit of Transylvania, Romania, marked the historical border between the Central European great powers and the Ottoman (Turkish) Empire.

Traveler to Romania, walking and culture

End of June offer the possibility to enjoy a tour through Transylvania, Maramures and Bucovina counties, Dracula castle, wooden churches and painted monasteries. It was a long tour, almost 2 weeks, and during those two weeks weather was quite challenging. From high temperatures in Bucegi mountain to zero Celsius and  snow up in Fagaras mountains, and good weather for walking in Maramures county, we had them all.
