Some people do not even look for ski tour in Ciucas mountains,the are not so big, not big skiing there, and in a way is true. But even taking in consideration this facts, a ski touring day there offer very nice skiing, on lovely landscapes. Slopes are not so big, maximum 200 m difference, but the quality of the snow is one of the best in the region.

If I would say that this week was perfect, I’d lie. Not all the days were sunny, and not everywhere we had the best snow. I had even lost a few good photo shots, but behind all this the tour was nearly perfect.
I met them at the Airport and from the first look I knew that all of them will all be good, very good. Their Latin blood and the very relaxed way of being helped very much to what was about to come: A dream week.

Hmmm, I’m not sure if we were skiing in Romania or in Siberia 😉 , because of the windy days what we had in Bucegi mountains. Weather is not all the time as we wish or as we expect, but always we find ways to enjoy a ski tour. We did a traverse of Bucegi mountains, starting from Cota 1400 in Sinaia to Moeciu de Sus village, over Tataru peak and Strunga pass. Well, I can start this snow report very simple. We were doing some ski tours on a ski resort, but the reality is coming when we saw how much snow was near the slopes or on the forest. And snow start to be bigger and bigger.
After a hiking, biking and walking  summer season, when sometime we pray for a rain, the winter start without big promises for our 100 mm wide skis. Well, winter is here, winter was here! I mean last week, 5-12 March 2011, was really winter, with strong winds, below zero temperatures and not the last good snow! Now the temperatures are over zero, but is still OK.
Our tour start in Bucegi mountains, where the weather was bad but good for skiing, if is possible to say something like this! Visibility was not great, BUT the snow was more than great! well, I can say that was a great weekend for a ski tour in Bucegi mountains, and it was. Even if at 7 AM were -25 Celsius, during the day was just nice to be outside on snow. And was enough snow, even that on the main ski resorts from Romania snow is still missing!
Saturday I was with 2 friends skiing on West part of Bucegi mountains, and we really enjoy this! Sunday morning I went up to Bucegi plateau to meet my wife Rosana, and Mihai and Alex went to Omu peak to ski down on Cerbului valley. They had a nice ski descent on Cerbului valley towa… (>>>)
