Walking in Transylvania

Hello!
below you may see some photos from my last tour from 2009 season. It was October, and the snow came to early in most of the areas of Romania, so the initial plan was changed few times. But as you may see, the tour was a successful one!

Kind regards,
Iulian Cozma

Dear Iulian, you definitely deserve this! Sorry that it’s US currency – we didn’t have enough lei and we couldn’t find any banks in the Danube Delta. But you can send this directly to B&H photo … We hoped that our guide in the mountains would be as knowledgeable as responsible as you were. We were truly impressed, though, by your thoughtfulness and attention. I certainly never expected to borrow a tripod and long lens to get better photographs. I hope we’ll keep in touch and get to see you again, either here or in New York. Thanks very much for all your help in introducing us to your country and its people. We enjoyed both!

Dear Iulian, thank you so very much for a wonderful time in your wonderful country. I appreciate your patience with us, (especially on the hiking part) but most of all I thank you for the wonderful options you offered when the weather didn’t cooperate and especially for putting together this week’s adventures. I certainly didn’t expect to spend my birthday in Bulgaria! The Danube Delta was wonderful and beautiful!  It was a pleasure to be with you and to get to know you and, as Scott says, I too hope we can keep in touch!

Iulian. I am writing to thank you for being my husband, Jeff’s, my guide in Romania and Bulgaria during the month of October 2009. I can’t imagine a better person than you to have had as leader. You were knowledgeable and informative, determined, flexible, trustworthy, hardworking, helpful, patient, and kind. Yes. All adjectives apply. I will be happy to recommend your company to good and dear fiends of mine who choose to visit Romania. Stay in touch.

For me it was the second time that I went on a trip with Iulian. Like last time (when I hiked to the highest peak in Romania – Moldoveanu) everything was very well organized by Iulian. We enjoyed good weather, snow was maybe not so ideal (too wet and heavy the first day and too icy the second day), but at least we knew at the end of these two days why we were tired. The Bucegi mountains are ideal for ski touring – and it’s good to have a guide like Iulian who knows the region and prevents you from going in the wrong direction. We stayed the night in a cozy and clean chalet in Pestera which allowed us to have a well-deserved rest after the first day. On the second day the temperatures were much lower and we found out at the end of the day that below 1700m it seemed as if the entire day it was foggy, windy and really cold. Fortunately we stayed above this altitude most of the day
