Active holiday in Romania, family hiking in Romanian Carpathians

They choose to spent a 3 weeks holiday in Romania, combining walking in the mountains with cultural visits and sitting in the sun. Was middle of August when we start the trip, start of September when we finish 🙂 So I was happy to organize for those two German families a trip as they wish, starting with Ocna Sibiului, Barcaciu hut in Fagaras mountains, Salvamont hut in Bucegi mountains, Sinaia, Sighisoara and Brasov cities, Viscri and Balea Lake tourist destinations and not the last, Poarta and Moeciu de Sus mountain villages. The trip we… (>>>)

Mountain biking Romania, Ciucas, Bucegi and Piatra Craiului national park

Two words come to mind when remembering our six days expert mountain biking trip we organized for four Austrian riders. Brutal und Total. I kept hearing those two words day after day, trail after trail, uphill after uphill and descent after descent. I am not a German language expert, but it was pretty obvious our friends were really excited by their mountain biking experience in the Transylvanian Carpathian Mountains.

We covered five different mountains – Ciucaș, Grohotișului, Baiului, Bucegi and Piatra Craiului – t… (>>>)

Walking holiday in Transylvania, Romania, Bran county and Bucegi mountains

Four days of mild, relaxed hiking on the hills of Bran Country and up in Bucegi Mountains passed by like a nice, warm summer breeze with David and Catherine. Lush green pastures were feasting our eyes, a surprising encounter for the end of August, when all vegetation is starting to show the sings of autumn.

It was a perfect escape from a busy place for our two guests, who thoroughly enjoyed every minute, every meter of quiet trail, serene forest or majestic mountain crest. Batteries charging time at its best, just a couple of hours flight f… (>>>)

Walking holiday in Transylvania

Dear Iulian:

Many thanks for arranging our walking tour with the very excellent Horia. Caroline and I were delighted with the itinerary in the Bucegi mountains – the scenery was spectacular and Horia knowledgeable, informative and sensitive to our levels of fitness and expertise or lack thereof….

We are singing the praises of Transylvania to our English friends and very much hope to come back and explore more of Romania’s wonderful hills and mountains with you and your team.

Single trail mtb in the mountains around Brasov City, Romania

We’ve been biking with our Swedish friends on the trails around Brasov for three years now and it just keeps getting better. The boys are a joy to watch, a continuous source of inspiration and awe. Their bmx origin is pretty obvious when you see them biking, and the combination of pure biking skills with a proper mountain-trail equipment and scenery simply works wonders.

For us it’s also a perfect opportunity not just to learn, but also to search for new trails. And we are happy to inform you that the possibilities are pretty … (>>>)

Fun in the mud on Bran Country trails

Unexpected familiar weather was waiting Martin, Pat and Ryan in Brasov when they came to Romania for a mountain bike tour in the Bran Country. Based in Amsterdam and London, the three friends were accustomed to cycle in wet conditions. Definitely more than I am, as the weather around here gives you most of the time the freedom to get picky – „it’s kind of cloudy, I think I will stay home today”.

We didn’t have that option with our tour, so we headed joyfully into what the s… (>>>)

Snow walking in Transylvania

It was freezing cold and pouring with rain the day I met Antonia and Annabel in the city center of Brasov. We were to discuss about our scheduled trekking tour up in the Carpathian Mountains and the weather wasn’t looking very promising.

I was in for a nice surprise. The two former Oxford students would not be put off by a few drops of rain, even if they hoped for a nice, warm, sunny autumn – as anyone would expect for an early October in Romania. It’s true that there weren’t just a few drops, but quite plenty, and not r… (>>>)

Walking in countryside of Romania, trekking tours in Carpathian mountains

„Hello Iulian, I have been on your website several times and I must admit I am very amazed by the scenery of the Romanian countryside. It is awesome. I am from Canada and I am seriously thinking about taking a hiking trip to Romania with my whole family. Robin” Like this was starting my conversation with Robin from Canada, early on May 2012, about a walking tour in Romanian countryside! And they came in early October for a walking tour in Romania! As you may see on the photos below, we enjoyed a great weather during our walki… (>>>)

Wild flowers walking tour in Romania, on Transylvanian hills

Traveling in the Bran region is always and I mean always, a beautiful experience. No matter how many times I have already been there, I just can’t get enough.

This time, walking with Rhys and Alexandra from Australia, we were amazed of how beautiful are the flowers, the spontaneous flora of this place. We were also very happy to walk thru virgin forests sections where anyone would expect at any time to meet the famous romanian bear, at any turn.

For me was a real pleasure to see their faces in the pine forest and while admiring all the p… (>>>)

Walking tour in rainy but beautiful Romania

You’d say rain is a major downer when going for a walking trip. Who wouldn’t prefer a nice, sunny, warm day on the trails instead of marching around, across or simply through muddy puddles, with rain falls ranging from light drizzles to heavy hail, with constantly wet shoes, clothes, etc.

Still, if you love mountains, you enjoy them no matter how the weather is. That’s exactly what we did, in the select company of seven Swedish guests that we guided through Bucegi mountains from Sinaia to Moeciu, than across Bran Cou… (>>>)
