At the end of May I did a hiking and a walking tour on one of my favorite regions to take pictures, on the hills of Bran county! I’ve been hiking and walking with Jo and Dave, witch were in Romania visiting some friends, and also to discover some more from Romania! And I think we had a nice tour, despite the strong rain in one of the days, who didn’t allow us to traverse Bucegi mountains. But we’re “happy” to see a bear female with her cubs, and I think the adventure was completed!
Not the last, my speci… (>>>)

I meet Mike few years ago, when he ask me to organize a 2 days tour in Fagaras mountains, climbing Moldoveanu peak, the highest in Romanian mountains! We climb the peak on 2 days, from Victoria town via Tarata ridge and Podragu hut, and we descend very fast on Vistea Mare valley. It was a really really nice tour, and I like the speed of the tour!
Few weeks ago I meet Mike again, and we traverse Piatra Mare mountains, in vicinity of Brasov, starting from Dambul Morii, over Piatra Mare peak, and finishing our tour on Predeal town ski slopes, aft… (>>>)
on first weekend of May 2010, so few days ago, I was on 2 days walking tour in Bucegi mountains, having as base Pestera hotel, at 1600 m high. My companions this time were Beth, Marc and Alexander, all of them working in Bucharest, mainly on office.
We did 2 pretty long walk, 14 km each day, climbing 900 m and 700 m, but the most important was that the weather was just fine for walking. Not too warm and not too cold, and of course not any rain!
Saturday the route was Pester Hotel – Ialomita Valley – Cerbului saddle – B… (>>>)
During April 9th-14th 2009, due to the Easter Holidays, I went hiking for 4 days with Kaoshortanord, Club de Muntanya, from Valencia-Spain. I can say I was pleasantly surprised to find out that, in a city like Valencia, located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, there is a club for mountain tours. Unfortunately our Black Sea cities do not have any hiking clubs at all. Anyway, as I found out during the tour, the weather in Valencia in this time of year was not very “friendly” (rainy and quite cold, as I understood). However… (>>>)
Walking in Bran county (know as Dracula county) is a very nice idea, if you know where to go. The most beautiful routes are traversing mountain villages of Magura, Pestera, Sirnea, Moeciu de Sus, Fundatica, Fundata and Simon, but not on marked routes, so is not easy to find your way. Even with a map is not easy. Not the last, walking near by or traversing near sheep farms can be delicate from sheep dog point of vewi. So be very carefully when you see some dogs. This are sheep dogs not pets! I can say that last week the weather was very nice for walk… (>>>)

Greetings, below you may see some photos from 14 & 15 June, from Ciucas mountains traverse, and climbing Dragus north ridge from Fagaras mountains.
The weather on both days were nice. Ciucas is a gentle mountains, with nice views, and the walk was easy for all the persons. Today was a quite a long day, almost 10 hours of hiking and 23 kilometers, but the views from up there deserve the effort. The next hike was from Negoiu hut to Scara peak, and descending to Barcaciu hut. Pictures below.
Between 20 and 27 June 2009, I was happy to organize one of my favorite hikes in Romanian mountains, the traverse of Bucegi and Fagaras mountains.

Hello! You may find below some images from a 2 days tour, when I traverse Bucegi mountains with a group of students from Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium, from Erlangen town, from Germany. The original plan was that we will go up to Bucegi mountains by the cable car from Busteni, but our plans were ruined by the cable car station from Busteni who was broke again … So next morning we travel to Sinaia Cota 1400’s by 2 small buses, and here we were very lucky because we catch the cable care up to Cota 2000 from Sinaia, where we start our w… (>>>)
